Independent Living Skills Program
Our Independent Living Skills Case Manager will offer you a program for learning and practicing Independent Living Skills. This will include personal finance and budgeting, health and wellness, employment preparation (such as interview practice!), cooking and nutrition, cleaning and hygiene, and so on.
Productivity Hours—Independent Living Skills (ILS)
- Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, we have productivity/ILS hours at Avenues. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, you will have the opportunity to get involved in our ILS program. You will not have access to the computer lab from 1pm to 4pm, unless it is part of ILS.
- On Wednesday, you need to be doing something productive, such as working on your case plan, doing homework, job searching, filling out applications, reading, drawing, or engaging in any other activities approved by case managers/staff. The computer lab will be available.
During Productivity/ILS hours we prefer for you to be on the main floor, though you can still have access to your bedroom. If you are working and/or going to school and there are times you need to rest during productivity hours, you may work out a schedule with your case manager that would allow for that. If you have been at Avenues for longer than 2 months and are not yet in school or working, you might not be allowed to stay in the house during productivity/ILS hours. The point is to have you being productive outside of Avenues as well.
